I'm Craig...a straight talking northerner with 16 years marketing experience.

For half my 16 year marketing career, I worked in the customer success and strategy teams for some of the leading digital agencies in the UK.

During my time at these agencies, I supported the development and delivery of online marketing strategies for brands such as LV=, Tesco, Honeywell, Anglian Home Improvements, BT, H Samuel, Ernest Jones and the NHS.

I absolutely loved working with the marketing teams of these recognised household brands. But I found more satisfaction working with the smaller, lesser known brands where the right advice and approach could really help transform their business and help them achieve significant growth.

So after I decided to call time on my agency life, the route I decided to take was to join the senior team of early stage start-ups that were looking to scale.

The first start-up I joined was in the home furnishings industry. They had recently launched a US operation and wanted to expand into Europe. I joined as Head of Marketing and we had an amazing 4 year journey.

The business saw significant growth in our first couple of years, and quickly expanded from the UK into Ireland and Germany.  A couple of mis-steps amidst the backdrop of political and competitive pressures meant the European journey didn’t end where we wanted it to (the US business is still going strong), but I’m forever grateful for the experiences and battle scars I gained here.

In 2019 I joined the senior management team of a marketing technology startup that specialised in cross-channel attribution and insights. We saw phenomenal growth in our first couple of years, and brought some well known brands onto the platform, including Regatta, The Hut Group, Hotter and Prettylittlething.

We were acquired by Awin in 2021, and I spent a year supporting the transition between the two businesses.

In 2022 I decided to embrace my entrepreneurial spirit, take a bet on myself and become self-employed, supporting businesses with their positioning, messaging, content and cross-channel strategy.

What kind of businesses do you work with?

I’m a business coach's worst nightmare.

“Niche down Craig, niche down. Just one industry. Like…online content strategy services for dentists”

No offence to dentists, but I’m not ready to ‘niche down’ at this stage. At least not yet.

I’ve got experience working with established household brands in finance, healthcare, home improvements and e-commerce. I can add value there.

I’ve got experience working with smaller brands and service based businesses across a wide range of different industries. I can add value there.

I’ve got first hand experience working in the senior team of two start-ups, one B2B, one B2C. I can add value there.

So I guess I’m a little bit like a one man A-Team.

Whatever the size or shape of your business, if you have a content or marketing problem… if no one else can help...and if you can find me…maybe you might hire Content For Growth.

My three prerequisites for working with any business are quite simple:

  • A good, competitive product or service offering

  • Friendly and collaborative to work with

  • Ambitious for growth
